Focus Attention on Annie Duke

February 21st, 2010 at 10:21

Annie Duke mightn’t have won her 1st World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but Annie is one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While competitors from the "young crowd" of poker run amok following a big success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mum" to her four children. She was born in NH and was raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught Annie the best method to compete in the game.

However, Annie Duke is not a small-potatoes girl and has earned her share of challenging matches, including knocking out Howard a few times on several occasions.

Winning well over $3 million in tournament action, Annie became a advisor to both UltimateBet and actor Ben Affleck, who aspired to build up his abilities and become a big player in poker.

You might catch her at the Bellagio, you will catch her on the television and you may even compete with her in an internet poker match, but do not bank on an easy win. Unless you are a rising star, you will not beat her. However, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
