Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
