NL Texas Holdem Poker- Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer grew up in a family of five where he enjoyed playing various card games when he was young. He found himself getting very aggressive in these card games as he was playing his father. After finishing Sr. High school, Howard decided to put higher education on hold for a bit and headed to New York City to participate in some formidable chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game taking place in the rear of the room. Howard’s first 2 years were rough as he would play countless hours and lost most times. He made some extra cash by becoming an runner for the poker players. He believed he could better his game by balancing his life outside of poker. He brought about an effort to acquire more rest and focus attention even more on poker.

The definite improvement in his skills happened when he began playing at the Mayfair Club in New York. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the the most favorable gamblers would often challenge each other. He was able to access a few of the greatest minds in chess. With their assistance, Howard would sharpen his logical thinking techniques. Howard used these strategy concepts in the game of NL texas hold’em.

He also helped his sister Annie Duke master the game of poker. Annie Duke was an excellent student of poker as she would consistently be asking questions about the right way to make the proper decision. He told Annie to move out to Vegas and play in the WSOP competition. Annie Duke is one of the greatest female players the poker arena today. Howard relocated to Vegas in 1993 and competed in cash games for the next decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to play more tournaments.
