Net Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

January 14th, 2023 at 8:25

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest players around the world. While playing online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus regularly participates in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He waits for a good hand and then pushes all-in. I know Gus is an amazing poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is assumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be seen participating in online poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha high and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his talents in cash games?
