August 27th, 2023 at 11:25

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
