Poker has become globally acclaimed lately, with televised events and celebrity poker game shows. The games popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit farther than its television ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the earliest poker game have been created, including a few games that are not in reality poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling blackjack than traditional poker, in that the players wager against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the established poker hands. There is little conniving or other types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to pay up just before the croupier announcing "No further bets." At that point, both you and the casino and of course all of the different players are given 5 cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the casino’s initial card, you must either make a call wager or accede. The call bet’s amount is akin to your beginning wager, which means that the stakes will have doubled. Giving Up means that your wager goes immediately to the dealer. After the bet is the showdown. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or greater, your wager is given back, including an amount equal to the original wager. If the dealer does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the dealer’s hand. The bank pays out money even with your original bet and set expectations on your call bet. These odds are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for two pairs
  • 3-1 for 3 of a kind
  • 4-1 for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
